Copyright Guidelines for Students: Avoiding Copyright Infringement

Think before you post

Be especially careful using content like photos and videos in anything you post to the web. If you are unsure about the copyright status of a piece of information it is better not to share it on social media.

When using content for class presentations always give credit to the creator of the information.

Options for Images

There are options for finding copyright free images on the internet.

Flickr is a great place to check for photographs.

Also, use the Creative Commons search tool to find royalty free images.

And don't forget the NASA Image and Video Library also has many options.

Options for Sounds

Copyright free sound recordings are harder to find. FreeSound is one resource with a wide variety of sounds to use in presentations or other multi media creations.
