Robert Gerald Pitman was born January 9, 1924 to Gerald A. Pitman & Tyle Forkin in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He was raised on Milwaukee’s northwest side near Washington Boulevard. His childhood was filled with the endeavors of an early twentieth century child: Fourth of July parades, scouting, swimming, pony rides, birthday parties, and school. During his childhood, he could be found writing and performing original plays for family and friends. The theater was an integral part of his life from an early age.
Robert Pitman went to Marquette University High School. His love of writing and the theater flourished there. He was involved in the drama club and acted in a number of high school productions. He graduated from Marquette University High School on June 9, 1941.
