The Fishbowl

A "fishbowl" is defined as 1) a place for keeping live fish and 2) a place or condition that affords no privacy. Alverno's "fishbowl" was constructed along with Clare Hall in 1956 as a lobby area to connect both residence halls: Corona Hall and Clare Hall. Because of the windows found on either side of the lobby, it was called "The Fishbowl" and the name stuck. Above is a view of the exterior from shortly after construction and below is a more recent view of the interior of the "Fishbowl."
