The gymnasium was part of the original campus construction which included Founders Hall, Corona Hall, Pitman Theatre, and the Powerhouse and opened in fall 1953. After Alverno's athletic program was re-initiated in 2000, the gym received some much-needed renovation funded by good Alverno friends, Roy and Bobbi Reiman. The gym is now part of the Athletic & Fitness Center complex. For views of the gym prior to renovation visit the exhibit, Alverno Then & Now.
Roy and Bobbi Reiman
Roy and Bobbi Reiman are staunch supporters of advancing the education of women. Roy Reiman, who was a past member of the Alverno College Board of Trustees and founder of the philanthropic Reiman Foundation, Inc., feels one of the most important aspects of a college education is that it helps each student to become “a more complete person.” “College is a place for you to dig down deep and find what unique talents you have, and experience the reward of bringing them to full bloom.”
Bobbi received an honorary doctorate from Alverno in 2006. Both Reiman's were inducted into the Trailblazers Club of the Alverno Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
Alverno College has benefited from the many generous gifts of Roy and Bobbi Reiman as they pursue that philosophy of educating young women. Contributions have funded the comeback of an Athletic program at Alverno as well as the renovations to the Alverno Gymnasium and athletic center, new NCAA regulation athletic fields and a field house .
